The Hekatean Lunation Talisman is a “witch bottle” style phylacteries which have been crafted, consecrated, and kept on the maker’s altar for most of 2026. The process began on the new moon in Capricorn on January 19 and culminated during the Walpurgisnacht moon (in Scorpio) April 30 - May 1. There are several ingredients: coastal sand collected during a Hekate Krataiis rite, a shard of selenite, myrrh powder, three nuggets of white copal, a dried mugwort leaf, hair of a black dog, and a drop of hyssop. At their heart, the Hekatean Lunation bottles also contain a small scroll emblazoned within with an image of a black horse’s head, a lunar seal, and a long string of vowels connecting them to the Orphic Hymn to Selene. These were developed and consecrated in daily rituals over an entire lunar cycle beginning in late January and are rolled and bound in a length of hemp twine which was entombed in a jar of soil taken from the site of a triple drowning, then buried in a cemetery for three nights before disinterring it (the soil itself is not present in the jars - that was dispersed on a windy hilltop as part of a blessing for the departed souls).
A limited and unrepeatable edition of thirteen talismans with an accompanying text providing further details on the process of their creation as well as an original lunar-chthonic ritual based on ancient sources and the maker’s personal gnosis.
Please note: although the talismans are quite attractive, they are not ornaments or accessories but rather intended for use in temple, field, mountaintop and cave. The materials will undoubtedly get shaken up during shipping, and organic ingredients may be expected to age and break down in unexpected ways. Suggested for necromancy and divination, as well as working with ancestors, land spirits, graveyard energies, lunar correspondences, tides and magnetism, and for use on Hekate altars and workings.
